Process Engineer II

Primary
Duties

  • Prepare process simulation models for less complex units by using standard simulation programs (HYSYS and/or ProMax) under general supervision for use in process design and development of deliverables.
  • Perform basic calculations for major equipment, instrument and CV & PSV datasheets.
  • Develop process engineering deliverables and aid in the development of inter-discipline deliverables under general supervision. These deliverables could include PFD’s, heat and material balances, major equipment lists, equipment datasheets, utility summaries, line lists and other process deliverables required for the project.
  • Assist in P&ID management and redline capture of all comments and quality from drafting and design groups.
  • Prepare process design basis under close supervision.
  • Handle hydraulic calculations for critical lines to ensure that process design standards are met.
  • Participate in informal studies and technical briefings with customers, suppliers and other departments/disciplines.
  • Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.
  • Assist with field start-up and troubleshooting of facilities, from office or site.

  • Propose process modifications and implement new products and processes that are in-line with the company objective.
  • Participate in improving current technologies and identifying new technologies.
  • Support proposal development and marketing.
  • Evaluate technical and economic aspects of processes related to the technology.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Practical knowledge of plant operations is a plus
  • Hands-on field experience in commissioning, start-up and performance tests is a plus.
  • Knowledge of process safety design concepts and documentation requirements.
  • Command of general chemical engineering principles and calculations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external clients, and management.
  • Command of general chemical engineering principles and calculations.
  • Working knowledge of industrial and regulatory standards.
  • Involvement and knowledge of HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA/SIL safety reviews, is a plus.
  • Experience with modelling in HYSYS and/or ProMax

Position Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in Oil & Gas Industry in process engineering.
  • Specific Area of Experience Desired: process equipment design experience is preferred.
  • Software Experience: Microsoft Office, Adobe, BR&E ProMax and/or Aspen HYSYS
